What We Do
What does M.E.D.A. do?
MEDA is a non-profit society registered in the Province of British Columbia and as such we are regulated and governed by “The Societies Act of British Columbia.
As indicated in our “Mission Statement” we have developed as a resource for anyone interested in Middle Eastern Dance.
We are a home to members of all interest and skill levels.
In the spirit of serving all teachers and performers equally, we provide recommendations (through our phone line and monthly newsletter) based solely on geography and invite potential students to sample a broad range of teaching styles.
Additional M.E.D.A. functions:
Organize, sponsor, support, and promote a wide variety of dance related events. i.e. shows, workshops, bazaars, student nights, etc.
Maintain a lending library of videos, books, music, costume instruction, etc.
Promote dancers and teachers.
Provide opportunities for networking and communication amongst dancers.
Increase public awareness and acceptance of Middle Eastern dance.
Offer members discounts on MEDA events.
Maintain a website to promote MEDA and its activities.
