We foster community involvement and awareness by sponsoring and supporting events and by providing services.

Notice Of Annual General Meeting

Middle Eastern Dance Association

 April 29, 2012

Noon-3pm, Board Room, Bonsor Recreation Centre, Burnaby, BC

All Members are invited to attend.

Come and give us your opinions and ideas about where MEDA should be going.

This is a Potluck so come out enjoy some goodies and give
us your thoughts and opinions about MEDA.

Meet the Board both old and new!

VOTE

Or better still VOLUNTEER for future events (workshops,shows, bazaars).

You will not be pressured to take on jobs, but every little bit of help will be appreciated.

Positions to be filled are:

President

  • Oversees and ensures effective functioning of the Board.
  • Maintains focus of Board on mission, goals.
  • Sets the tone for the work group.
  • Initiates projects, assigns and delegates.
  • Provides vision for the direction of the Association.
  • Monitors projects progress.

Vice President

  • Key assistant to President multi dimensional role.
  • Helps disseminate information to the Board.
  • Takes initiative in helping President and other Directors.

Treasurer

  • Keeps accurate detailed records of expenditures.
  • Provides guidelines for budget and spending.
  • Provide year-end financial report for AGM to be filed in  Victoria.

Special Events Co-ordinator

  • Heads the special Events Committee
  • Proposes event ideas to the Board.
  • Undertakes and oversees MEDA events.

Membership Secretary

  •  Answers inquiries, provides membership information to the public.
  • Maintains membership list with accurate updated information.
  • Organizes printing of address labels for newsletter mail-out
  • Sends renewal notices to members.

Secretary

  • Accurately records minutes.
  • Distributes minutes to Directors.
  • Keeps complete records, reports and legal paperwork.
  • Files Annual Reports for the Association in Victoria.

Volunteer Co-ordinator

  • Organizes volunteers for MEDA workshops/special events.
  • Calls people who have expressed interest in volunteering and
    finds out what they want to do.
  • Keeps a database of volunteers with phone numbers, and email addresses.
  • Makes sure there are enough volunteers for the workshop/event.
  • Updates volunteer instructions.
  • Meets the volunteers at the workshop/event.
  • Finds relief workers for breaks if needed during the workshop/event.
  • Supervises volunteers at the workshop/event.
  • Keeps records of who volunteers are and the amount of time per workshop/event.
  • Send out Thank-you notes to the volunteers after each
    workshop/event.

The following positions are appointed by the Board.

  • Sahda Editor/Producer
  • Webmistress

The Grande Bazaar  2012

is over for another year and it was a huge success!

The next one is our Fall Mini Bazaar in conjunction with the fall show

Twilight  at the Oasis.
